Performance and Workshops at GlobalFest 2008
March 8, 2008 - Djibril Camara and the Mara-Giri Ensemble performed at the opening ceremony of GlobalFest 2008, a two-day multicultural event at Urbana High School that brings hundreds of high school students and teachers from central Illinois together. After the performance, Djibril lead a gymnasium full of enthusiastic dancers in a one-hour class. The Mara-Giri drummers taught a hands-on drumming workshop to students and teachers later that day as well. Thank you to GlobalFest for inviting us to this wonderful event!

Performance at Garden Hills Elementary School
February 29, 2008 - Djibril Camara and the Mara-Giri Ensemble brought a high energy performance to Garden Hills Elementary School in Champaign at a Friday afternoon school assembly and had a terrific time with the kids and their teachers!

Workshop Series with iSalsa2 Dance Group
February 2008 - Djibril Camara joined iSalsa2, a salsa dance organization at the University of Illinois, to offer an exciting workshop series called Salsafrique! Salsa dancing and music have deep roots in Africa, and the Salsafrique workshop is a contemporary blend of traditional West African choreography with Salsa dances. Performance at Decatur Arts Council Opening for Willis "Bing" Davis
February 1, 2008 - Djibril Camara and the Mara-Giri Ensemble performed at the art opening and presentation of African-American artist Willis "Bing" Davis.
